Managed to squeeze in another trip to Toronto. Minus my impeccable ability of missing the train, the day was amazing. Tackled more of the Canadian animals and had some fun drawing an ostrich. Great animal to draw. Especially when you nearly sit underneath it. While still practicing form and proportions, this visit I really played with depth. Most of the poses I drew the animals from required slight foreshortening. My next focus will be on line quality.
Now this was post ROM. Character design is one of those areas I still need to work on so while on the train home I started drawing characters. This was the initial sketch I came up with. I would like to go back and refine the designs so I can become more comfortable with character designing.

Drawing at the ROM
Finally this summer I have had the chance to make a trip down to the ROM and practice drawing. Despite the torrential downpour (by some miracle I kept my sketchbook dry), it was an exciting time. I got to work on gestures and animal studies. I loved drawing the birds and large cats. Especially the jaguar in it's hunting pose. I hope I have more chances this summer to do this. Or to even go to the zoo and draw the living ones.

Painting Fun!
Now that the early summer craziness has passed, I have gone back to doing what I do best. Art. My goal this summer is to practice digital painting in particular. I learned a lot in the school year, but I need to improve. As well, I would like to start painting pieces for future conventions to run a table. So this way I'll be doing a two birds with one stone.
Here is my first painting piece. I chose to do Spyro as it was my first ever game. This is the fastest painting I've done (woo!). Definitely room for improvement. Particularly in texture and edges, but it is a start. Will post more (including pieces from school) soon.
